Retirement Plan Consulting Services

As a business owner or executive, you may already have or be considering implementing a retirement plan for your employees. In either case, SHWM can be a valuable partner in this process.

Unlike many firms, we do not sell or endorse proprietary products. Instead, we serve as consultants to our business clients, helping them find the right retirement plan solution.

That solution might be a profit sharing plan, a plan with a 401(k) feature, a traditional defined benefit plan or a new cash balance plan. Regardless, our relationships with top retirement plan service providers allow us to present you with realistic options that match your needs with the services of the provider.

Our advisors stay with you every step of the way, helping you understand and address your role as fiduciary, meeting with plan trustees to establish priorities, helping guide development of the investment policy statement and helping the plan sponsor determine the investment lineup or investment allocation for the plan.

We can also assist with 401(k) conversion services: searching for a new plan provider, working with you and your provider on plan design changes, monitoring the conversion and scheduling employee education and enrollment meetings.

Long after your plan is in place, we are still working with you to provide state of the plan review meetings, quarterly performance reviews, monitoring for compliance and assisting with such things as potential DOL audits.
